Last week the United States government announced a record 3.3 million people applied for first-time unemployment benefits.
The Coronavirus Pandemic is likely either affecting you directly or somebody you know. The economic harm that is occurring might be temporary or it may result in a permanent change in your income.
If you, or someone you know, are paying either child support or alimony or both, then you need to take IMMEDIATE steps to prevent the economic disruption that is occurring from causing you even more economic pain than it already is.
Depending upon your circumstances, I may be able to develop a temporary solution to this problem. We may be able to negotiate a lower amount of money to be paid or a temporary suspension of payments.
More importantly, we can open a dialogue with the other party and hopefully avoid expensive and time consuming litigation.
In the event that we cannot amicably reach a resolution, we can protect you by immediately alerting the court to the need for a modification in your support obligation. This can result in saving you thousands of dollars and possibly keeping you from being found in contempt of court for failing to pay your support obligations.
