Arrested for Domestic Violence?

adam pollack · Apr 26, 2020 ·

Sheltering in place has been an opportunity for people to connect with their loved ones in special and unique ways. However, for some people, this has also caused tempers to flare and for arguments to happen.

Domestic abuse is a terrible, growing by-product of self-quarantine and we wish that it would never happen. Unfortunately, it does.

Also unfortunately, sometimes people are wrongfully accused of committing violence upon people with whom they are in a domestic relationship. This could be the spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, domestic partner or child of the accused.

Florida takes allegations of domestic violence very seriously. If you are arrested for a crime involving domestic violence, you will be held in jail until you see a judge for an Initial Appearance hearing. During this hearing, the judge, who knows very little about you, will make decisions that will affect who you can speak to and where you can live.

It’s always a “he said, she said” situation and who will make sure that your side of the story is heard? Your version of events may be very different from what the accuser has told the police and prosecutor.

Who will let the judge know that you have nowhere else to live if the judge puts a do-not-return order in place? Who will let the judge know how much bond you can afford to post to get out of jail?

If you find yourself in that situation, you need to get an experienced attorney who can provide for you expert advice on how to effectively deal with this situation. Many times I am able to get these serious charges dismissed. Sometimes dismissal is not possible and you find yourself having to see a judge.

My twenty plus years of experience allows for me to effectively represent you and let your story be heard. I will be there for you each step of the way. Ultimately, if your case needs to proceed to a trial, I am a skilled criminal defense attorney who has tried well over 100 jury trials to completion. I do not let prosecutors take advantage of my clients and I will not let a prosecutor take advantage of you. Your freedom is at stake, your employment is at stake and your reputation within the community is in jeopardy.

If you’ve been falsely accused of domestic violence, I am available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to help you deal with this serious legal problem.
